// Al Jazira rallied from two goals down to defeat Emirates club 2-2 to improve their chances of a semi-final spot in the Arabian Gulf Cup.
Alhusain Saleh and Khalid Khamis were on target for Emirates before Ahmed Al Ghilani closed the gap from a spot kick in the added time of the first half.
Khalfan Mubarak levelled the score on 54 minutes. Jefferson Farfan then headed a free kick to put the visitors in front seven minutes from time and Ahmed Al Hashimi rounded off with a second spot kick in added time.
With the three points earned at Emirates last night, Jazira took their tally to eight points to climb to third place behind Al Wasl (10) and Al Dhafra (9) in Group A.
Emirates launched an attack from the middle and moved the ball down to the left flank for Khamis to take play inside the area before slipping a back-pass for Saleh to dispatch it to the far corner of the net to open the scoring.
Khamis doubled the lead 10 minutes before the break before Jazira’s reply from a spot kick, awarded when Khaled Shamarikh brought down Park Jong-woo for Al Ghilani to close the gap from a re-taken penalty.
Mubarak collected a long ball and chipped it over keeper Ibrahim Abdulla to level the scores before Farfan put them ahead seven minutes from time. Al Hashimi sealed the win from a second spot kick of the match in added time.
In a couple of Group B fixtures, Al Ahli won 3-1 over Dibba and Al Ain came twice from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw over Al Shabab.
Ahli raced to a 3-0 lead before Maeed Rashid pulled one back for Dibba at the Fujairah Club stadium.
Hamad Talal hooked a cross from Waleed Ambar into his own net with a minute left for half-time to give Ahli a crucial lead.
Ambar was on target from space created by Rodrigo Lima. The Brazilian extended the lead before the consolation strike from Rashid for Dibba.
Al Ain were left on four points from four games. Technically they are still in the race, provided they win the two remaining games and some of the results from the other games fall on their favour.
Shabab went ahead through an eighth minute strike from Manei Mohammed. Danilo Asprilla struck the equaliser before the Brazilian Henrique Luvannor regained it on 38 minutes.
Al Ain’s Brazilian forward Douglas cancelled the lead again from a spot kick two minutes before half time. And that’s how the game ended despite the visitors creating more scoring chances in the second period.
