AGL round-up: Sebastian Tagliabue notches double to lift Al Wahda

Sebastian Tagliabue was the hero for Al Wahda as he scored twice to lift the Abu Dhabi side up to third in the Arabian Gulf League table with a 2-0 victory over Al Nasr.

The Argentine struck with the last touch of the first half to give the visitors the lead at the break at the Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium on Saturday night.

He then ensured that all three points would be heading back to the UAE capital when he scored his second with eight minutes of normal time remaining.

Wahda are two points behind league leaders Al Jazira, with both teams having played 13 games going into the winter break.

Al Ain are still second in the table on 26 points but have played two games fewer than both of the Abu Dhabi clubs.

Elsewhere, Fujairah ended the first half of the season with a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Ajman, lifting their points total to 12 from 12 games, while their opponents have taken nine from 13 matches.

The hosts took a 22nd-minute lead through striker Boubacar Sanogo, with his fifth AGL goal of the season, and held on for the remainder of the game to seal only their third victory of the campaign.
