Shop the shoot: Burberry

Our winter fashion shoot for Luxury magazine was published last week, and it contains loads of festive outfits comprising chunky knits, pleated fabrics and shimmering textiles. From British heritage fashion label Burberry, we received a look straight off of the big September runway show. The image (above) was shot inside a tent with a pop-up arcade, located at The Funfair at The BEACH, opposite JBR on Dubai. The look is pictured alongside an ensemble from Dior's latest 2017 cruise collection.

The pleated Burberry skirt is paired with a heavy knit sweater, and a sheer top underneath, featuring a Victorian-style high neck with ruffles. To give the look a casual-chic punch, we added pastel sunglasses by Victoria Beckham, along with a monochrome Prada cross-body bag. The model also wore her own beat-up Converse Chuck Taylor shoes, though they’re not visible in this crop of the image.

Replicate the look this season by seeking out a midi skirt that combines a print with pleats, and wear it with a chunky sweater and retro shades. The key is to look effortless with this street-inspired ensemble, so don’t fret if your sweater doesn’t tuck neatly into the waistband of your skirt — wear it loose and untucked, and rather than pointy heels, finish off the look with an old pair of trainers.

Going grey? A stylist's advice

If you’re going to go grey, a great style, well-cared for hair (in a sleek, classy style, like a bob), and a young spirit and attitude go a long way, says Maria Dowling, founder of the Maria Dowling Salon in Dubai.
It’s easier to go grey from a lighter colour, so you may want to do that first. And this is the time to try a shorter style, she advises. Then a stylist can introduce highlights, start lightening up the roots, and let it fade out. Once it’s entirely grey, a purple shampoo will prevent yellowing.
“Get professional help – there’s no other way to go around it,” she says. “And don’t just let it grow out because that looks really bad. Put effort into it: properly condition, straighten, get regular trims, make sure it’s glossy.”
