Mingling among the cool crowd and stylish celebrity set at Fashion Forward this October was American producer and presenter Rocco Leo Gaglioti. The founder of the FNL (Fashion News Lifestyle) network shared his thoughts on season 8 at Dubai Design District (d3).
Who are among your favourite designers this season?
I'd have no hesitation in saying Ezra. Also Furne One – about whom I made a documentary called Inside Amato which debuted in the United States last year and won Best Documentary at the International Fashion Film Awards.
What sets Amato apart in your eyes?
Definitely the details. Furne is extremely creative and each of his shows is a journey through his mind. You’re never disappointed and it’s always an intense experience.
Patent slip-ons, conversational-print trousers and waistcoats have been worn by many men this season at FFWD. What’s your capsule look?
To be honest, I like to keep things pretty classic with simple black leather Prada shoes, a pair of tight black jeans and a bespoke shirt and suit jacket from a tailor in New York.
You’ve covered New York Fashion Week for more than a decade, what are your projections for the UAE’s fashion sector ambitions?
I truly believe that Dubai has tremendous potential. Fashion Forward is certainly the strongest fashion engagement here, it’s a great platform - and the venue is stunning.
Especially with d3 and the government supporting Bong Guerrero and his team, I see Fashion Forward continuing to grow and become stronger.
