Rock The Casbah

Moroccan director Laïla Marrakchi – behind 2006's runaway box office success Morock – has lined up an all-star Arab cast for her energetic follow up. Delving into the hypocrisies of Tangiers' middle class, Rock The Casbah sees Hiam Abbass, Nadine Labaki, Luba Azabal, Morjana Alaoui, with a supporting role from Omar Sharif, come together for a bittersweet, satire-laced family drama played out over three days of mourning following the death of a prominent industrialist and patriarch. Beautifully outspoken, frequently funny and with suitably powerhouse performances, this could well outdo Marrakchi's controversial debut.
