When the popular video streaming platform Netflix came to the UAE this year, many residents jumped for joy. Over the past five years, streaming services have dominated the American and European markets as more and more customers moved away from traditional television subscriptions. Now people can choose what they want to watch when they want to watch it and where they want to watch it. Amazon Prime is the internet shopping giant’s response and it is now available on our shores.

Not only do these services offer a great range of classic films and series but they carry their own content. In Amazon’s case, the series The Man in the High Castle and Transparent stand out. Now that both Amazon and Netflix are available to UAE consumers, the market is showing signs of real competition. It will take time for the full back catalogues to be made available here, but our streaming future is looking very bright.
