Merry Christmas

Every year, billions of people across the world celebrate the winter season with Christmas festivities. For many, the holiday’s message of peace and camaradiere far outweighs any religious connotation of Christmas. In this region, Christians celebrate with their Muslim neighbours in the historic sites of Christianity.

Closer to home, the UAE’s spirit of tolerance and cooperation across religious groups has been on full display this festive season. From Santa Claus in our malls to Christmas markets around our towns, Christian residents have been enjoying the holidays for weeks with their Muslim friends. Given the chaos that has engulfed the region this year, it is important to enjoy the tolerance that we all have here.

With less than a week left in 2016, we now turn our attention to welcoming the new year and opening 2017 on a high note. A merry Christmas to all and may the spirit of peace be with all of us in the new year.
