Dubai Design & Fashion Council (DDFC) and the FAD Institute of Luxury, Fashion & Style Dubai have – for the second season – announced an open call to be part of the DDFC x FAD Dubai Fashion Showcase happening later this year.

The initiative is aimed at emerging labels from the UAE, and the DDFC and FAD Dubai are looking to sponsor one designer to go to Fashion Scout, which takes place during London Fashion Week. The largest independent showcase for new designers, Fashion Scout is a good platform for new labels to garner wider recognition, and has helped spotlight the likes of Peter Pilotto, Eudon Choi and Phoebe English. The debut open call by DDFC and FAD Dubai saw regional labels Azzalia and Deborah Henning sent to London in February this year.

Designers wishing to participate must download the application forms from www.ddfc.ae before June 29, and send the completed submission and portfolio to opencall@ddfc.ae.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be members of DDCF and have already presented four seasonal collections and two fashion shows.

The opportunity is open to both men’s- and womenswear designers, and shortlisted applicants will be announced on July 3. On July 6, there will a chance to present to the judging panel of experts from FAD Dubai, Fashion Scout and a special guest. The winner will be announced on July 23.
