A yellow weather warning is in place until at least 5pm on Thursday in the north eastern parts of the Emirates.

The areas most affected, according to the National Centre of Meteorology, include Fujairah and the Khor Fakkan region in Sharjah.

The warning is due to "fresh winds causing blowing dust and sand reducing the horizontal visibility".

The weather bureau also forecasts light rain in some parts of the country today and tomorrow, with cloudy weather predicted for the weekend.
