The UAE and Lebanon are working towards lifting travel restrictions, which include a UAE-imposed ban on Emiratis travelling to Lebanon, following a meeting of the two heads of state.
A joint statement said the countries are keen to facilitate ease of travel to the benefit of both nations.
"The two sides agreed to allow citizens to travel after taking the necessary measures to facilitate movement between the two countries and establishing appropriate mechanisms for this," the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
On Wednesday, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed and President Joseph Aoun met in Abu Dhabi. Mr Aoun's government seeks to boost relations with the Gulf after years of internal political turmoil in Lebanon.
In a conversation with newspaper editors, including The National, Mr Aoun said he had spoken to Emirati officials about easing UAE travel and work visa restrictions for Lebanese citizens. He has also sought support for the Lebanese armed forces, and wants to encourage Emirati businesses to consider investing in Lebanon.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was born and raised in Tehran and studied English literature before working as a translator in the relief effort for the Japanese International Co-operation Agency in 2003.
She moved to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies before moving to the World Health Organisation as a communications officer.
She came to the UK in 2007 after securing a scholarship at London Metropolitan University to study a master's in communication management and met her future husband through mutual friends a month later.
The couple were married in August 2009 in Winchester and their daughter was born in June 2014.
She was held in her native country a year later.
