Italian fashion house Salvetore Ferragamo has announced the departure of it's creative director, Massimilano Giornetti.
Giornetti’s leaving comes after a turbulent couple of years in the world of fashion, which has seen creative leadership upheavals at Lanvin, Dior and Gucci.
Giornetti has been with Ferragamo for fifteen years. He first joined the menswear team in 2000, was made head of menswear in 2004, and in 2011 became the brand’s first ever creative director.
While no further explanation for Giornetti’s departure was given, the company’s CEO, Michele Norsa, released the following statement: “We will take this opportunity to revisit our creative approach. Over time the company has nurtured and sponsored many young designers and is fortunate to be able to count on an excellent in house team”
The industry is now left with two, rather sizeable, burning questions: Who will replace Giornetti at Ferragamo? And where will Giornetti move to next? Watch this space.
