Newlyweds Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are honeymooning in the Maldives. The Game of Thrones actor and her new husband have been tagging holiday pictures on Instagram with #discoversoneva, the tagline for luxury resort Soneva Fushi.

So what is the high-end hotel like? It’s all about barefoot chic with a generous helping of luxury and some impressive sustainable goals at this idyllic resort on Kunfunadhoo Island in the Maldives’ Baa Atoll.

A 40-minute seaplane ride from the Maldivian capital of Male, the couple’s little slice of paradise is part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and comes with amazing marine life guaranteed.

The loved-up couple, who celebrated their second wedding in France last month after tying the knot in Vegas, have been pictured lounging on woven hammocks and enjoying some downtime at the Robinson Crusoe-inspired overwater villas.

Jonas shared drone footage of him braving the slide at the Out of the Blue restaurant, plunging straight into the Indian Ocean. He also posted shots of Turner soaking up the sun on a hammock and watching the sunset from the beach.

Turner shared a picture of her new husband tucking into some sushi on what looked like a pause from a game of chess that Turner – judging by the number of chess pieces on her side of the board – appeared to be winning.

Green efforts

As well as being a little slice of island paradise, Soneva Fushi gets a thumbs up for its sustainable efforts. The main beach house is fitted out with recycled materials and eco-friendly amenities and leftover food is composted into soil for the island’s organic garden.

It was also way ahead of the curve with the war on plastic, banning plastic straws back in 1998. It was also one of the first in the world to ban plastic water bottles back in 2008.
