The Celebrity make-up artist Carolyn Gallyer, who is now based in Dubai and works with top brands such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana, gives us a sneak peek into her make-up bag
Carolyn Gallyer started her career as a freelance make-up artist in Canada in 2006, before relocating to London where she assisted top make-up artists on shoots for publications such as British Vogue and ID magazine, working with supermodels like Eva Herzigová, Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer. Here are the top 10 beauty products that she can’t live without.
1. Dolce & Gabbana Honey 104 & Carmel 208 Nail Lacquer
The two shades are perfect nudes for fair and darker skin tones, respectively. Honey 104 is a great pinky nude that complements fair-skinned girls. Carmel 208 is a perfect nude with brown and golden tones, and both have a high gloss finish.
2. OCC Lip Tar
These liquid lipsticks are lifesavers during outdoor shoots in Dubai’s hot and humid climate. Only the smallest drop is needed for an opaque coverage. Once it dries to a satin matte finish, it won’t budge.
3. MAC Care Blends Essential Oils in Grapefruit and Chamomile
Even young, fresh-faced models need a little help and this face oil does the trick. Super moisturising, it hydrates and plumps up the skin, allowing the foundation to sink in.

This red orange matte lipstick looks good on everyone and photographs like a dream.

Prepping the skin well is the most important step when I do make-up. You need to have a great base before you apply make-up. This cream-gel formula never feels too heavy. It’s great for hot climates and provides all-day moisture whilst eliminating shine.
