Public nominations are now open for Dubai's Walk of Fame.

The project, when completed, will see 10,000 Dubai Stars pop up on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai.

For the first wave, 400 names will be announced and unveiled in October 2019. Last month designer Elie Saab was the first person to receive a star.

The Dubai Walk of Fame will pay homage to local and international personalities from various fields including music and film, of course, but also art, architecture, sports, and literature as well as social influencers.

To nominate, visit nominate.thedubaistars.com. Voting closes at midnight on May 31, and each person – over 18 – can nominate up to three "eminent personalities".

The website's full instructions read: "You can nominate up to three eminent personalities who have made a major positive impact in any of the following areas: Music, Film, Art, Architecture, Sports, Literature, Social Media Influence, Innovation and Social Work".

It has been described by Emaar as a "walkable tribute to stars and influencers from all over the world. Further underlining Downtown Dubai as the main tourist destination in Dubai, Dubai Stars will pay tribute to eminent personalities who have positively influenced the world through their work in various fields."

Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director of Emaar Properties, said of the project: “With Dubai Stars we are further highlighting our commitment to making Dubai the best city in the world, and to promoting arts, culture and sports by saluting the stars, whose contributions continue to inspire the world.”
