Ferrari’s 70th-anniversary year continues apace with the announcement of its latest model: the Portofino.
Named after the picturesque fishing village on the Italian Riviera coastline, near Genoa, the all-new car has some big shoes to fill as the replacement for Ferrari's best-seller, the California T.
The V8-powered convertible GT certainly carries over plenty of design cues from the California T, not least in its grille, although it also seems to be informed by some of the angrier, more-angular lines of fellow Ferrari newcomer the 812 Superfast.
The Portofino's figures of 592hp, 760Nm of torque, top speed of 320kph and 0 to 100kph in 3.5 seconds, all represent significant jumps in performance versus the California T, aided by redesigned components that also make it notably lighter than its predecessor.
Its interior has been given the benefit of Ferrari’s latest technology, too, with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, a new air-conditioning system, a new steering wheel and increased legroom for rear-seat passengers.
The Portofino will make its world debut at the Frankfurt motor show, which runs from September 14 to 24.
