It's called Resort Villa, but no, it isn't located at a luxury holiday resort in a far flung tropical paradise surrounded by palm trees with the sound of the ocean easing you into a welcome state of tranquility.

The good news however is that you can find this property in Al Barsha in Dubai.

And that means there's no travelling miles and miles to the nearest shops and there's no trouble getting your favourite takeaway delivered to your door.

This contemporary villa on a 15,000 sq ft plot is certainly out of the ordinary in terms of style when compared to many of the other sizeable Dubai properties in a similar price bracket - and this one is on the market for Dh25 million with LuxuryProperty.com.

If you like your homes to be modular, you will like this mass of squares and rectangles, with floor to ceiling glass.

Furthermore, the white walls and expansive, almost empty rooms are in contrast to some of the city's high-end villas which can at times be heavy on the bling.

Yes, contemporary design and architecture are very much of the moment. As the demographic of Dubai's home buyers is shifting, with more younger buyers entering the market, we are seeing this design become more and more popular.

Is there scope for a new owner to change this style if it’s not to their taste?

This is one of the finest examples of contemporary architecture in the city and has been designed with a certain aesthetic in mind. While a buyer could renovate it to suit a different taste, I think that would be akin to an art collector buying the Mona Lisa and putting a moustache on it!
