Jones the Grocer has been a big hit in the UAE since it brought its first branch here from Australia. Its blend of healthy, homemade food and comfort eats – alongside gourmet deli products to buy in-store – has gone down well, and the brand has been expanding rapidly across the country.

At the end of last month, we reported Jones the Grocer had a new branch at The Dubai Mall, complete with views of the Dubai Fountain, a walk-in cheese room and the UAE's first meat ager. Now, those expansion plans have extended to the capital, as a brand-new outlet of the cafe has opened at the Holiday Inn, Downtown Abu Dhabi.

A few days ago, the new, licensed venue opened its doors to the public, with shelves stacked full of artisanal ingredients, brewing equipment and other handy foodie products.

The menu spans breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a wide range of offerings to cater to every mealtime: from brunch favourites, such as eggs benedict and coconut flour pancakes, to main courses like sticky pulled beef bao and chargrilled harissa chicken, as well as 'cured and matured' sharing boards boasting charcuterie and cheese options.

There are even a host of plant-based options (marked either vegan or vegetarian), including truffled Portobello and oyster mushrooms on toast with dairy-free basil pesto dressing, an acai bowl, and a black quinoa, kale and roasted sweet potato salad, plus soup options.

There's a separate delivery menu for those who don't want to get off the couch, too.

In January, the chain also launched a new grab-and-go outlet at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, offering popular snacks and meal deals to golfers and non-golfers alike.

Jones the Grocer was born in 1996, in Sydney, Australia, and now has outlets across the world, including in Cambodia, China, Singapore, Thailand and, of course, the UAE.
