Foodies, it’s time to stock up on toothpaste. The first garlic-themed restaurant is coming to the UAE.

Mad for Garlic, a popular concept from Korea will open first in Dubai, followed by outlets in other cities around the GCC. Scheduled to open in September, the restaurant will serve up garlic-infused dishes to satisfy every garlic-lover. Mad for Garlic started in Korea in 2001 and now has 38 branches across Korea as well as one each in Singapore and Indonesia. Dubai will be the first location in the Middle East.

Listed on the restaurant’s Korean menu are dishes called dracula killer (soft bread served with garlic cooked in oil and anchovies) and red devil (pasta with shrimp, clams and seafood). Even the desserts contain traces of the pungent bulb. Fingers crossed the Dubai location has the garlic berry and ice cream dessert on offer: it comes with sweet garlic jelly.

Expect the casual restaurant to be an ode to all things garlic. Not only will the menu be bursting with garlic-infused dishes, but there will also be garlic-themed decor throughout the eatery.

Mad for Garlic is coming to Dubai through the Al Ahli Holding Group, a UAE-based organisation that recently signed a long-term agreement with the Korean restaurant firm ‘Sun at Food’. In addition to the garlic restaurant, AAHG is also bringing the Filipino restaurant ‘Little Manilla’ to the Emirates in the coming weeks.
