Food briefs: Free burritos and a birthday celebration at APi CAE

1,000 free burritos at Taqado on Thursday

Taqado Mexican Kitchen in Mall of the Emirates is giving out 1,000 free burritos on Thursday March 28, filled with char-grilled chicken, smokey barbacoa beef and guacamole made from perfectly ripened avocados. Breakfast burritos will be available from 8am to midnight, and it's first come, first served, with one free medium burrito per person guarranteed while stocks last.

Helio opens in Dubai

Helio Lounge has opened its doors this week, overlooking the Dubai Marina. Inspired by Egyptian heritage, the restaurant invites people to "turn up, dine in, hang out". The menu focuses mainly on shareable favourites - a must-try is the Helios, an adaption of Egyptian fiteer in a range of fillings, from a blend of beef and beans to a sweet delight of desiccated coconut and caramelised apple. Open 8am to 1am on weekdays and until 3am on weekends.

Easter offer at Meydan for the family

The Track Restaurant and Qube Sports Bar at Meydan are kicking off Easter celebrations this weekend with a special family BBQ Brunch on Friday, from noon to 4pm. For Dh250 per person (Dh75 for kids), guests can tuck into a main course straight off the grill, two side dishes, dessert and unlimited house beverages, with chocolate treats and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. A Brazilian feast for the carnivores among us

Carnivores should head down to the new Brazilian churrascaria Frevo, now open at Dubai's Fairmont The Palm. The restaurant offers more than 15 cuts of Brazilian meat, plus live music nightly is a given. Open Saturdays to Wednesdays, 7pm to 11.30pm, Thursdays and Fridays, 7pm to 12.30am.
