Costa Coffee UAE is aiming to raise Dh100,000 for the Al Noor Training Centre, a specified school for the differently abled through its Hug a Mug initiative, running from October 13-21.
Hug a Mug has rolled out in over 100 Costa locations within the UAE from October 13. Cuppie, the cuddly Costa cup mascot, has been on hand to give hugs to all who want to donate to the worthwhile cause. Costa will also have limited edition Al Noor cupcakes and a white chocolate latte on offer, with all proceeds going to the Al Noor Training Centre.
Additionally, Costa Coffee UAE is encouraging people to join in by using the hashtag #HugAMug when sharing memorable photos across social media platforms. Every time the hashtag is used, Dh1 will be donated to Al Noor Training Centre.
Customers can also log on to the dedicated website, hugamug.ae, to share the love and donate directly. Donations can be made by giving your phone number and a virtual cuddle to Costa's irresistible online Cuppie.
Shemaine Jones, Head of Marketing at Costa Coffee UAE, comments: “At Costa UAE, we wanted to contribute to the UAE communities. Our friends at Al Noor Training Centre continue to do great work but are reliant on funding from their partners, sponsors and local community so we wanted to share some love and do our bit to help. Hug a Mug is a fun and rewarding initiative that everyone can get involved in.”
Hug a Mug will be at all Costa locations until October 21. For more information on the Hug a Mug initiative, visit www.hugamug.ae.

Day 2, Abu Dhabi Test: At a glance
Moment of the day Dinesh Chandimal has inherited a challenging job, after being made Sri Lanka’s Test captain. He responded in perfect fashion, with an easy-natured century against Pakistan. He brought up three figures with a majestic cover drive, which he just stood and admired.
Stat of the day – 33 It took 33 balls for Dilruwan Perera to get off the mark. His time on zero was eventful enough. The Sri Lankan No 7 was given out LBW twice, but managed to have both decisions overturned on review. The TV replays showed both times that he had inside edged the ball onto his pad.
The verdict In the two previous times these two sides have met in Abu Dhabi, the Tests have been drawn. The docile nature of proceedings so far makes that the likely outcome again this time, but both sides will be harbouring thoughts that they can force their way into a winning position.

Day 2, Dubai Test: At a glance
Moment of the day Pakistan’s effort in the field had hints of shambles about it. The wheels were officially off when Wahab Riaz lost his run up and aborted the delivery four times in a row. He re-measured his run, jogged in for two practice goes. Then, when he was finally ready to go, he bailed out again. It was a total cringefest.
Stat of the day – 139.5 Yasir Shah has bowled 139.5 overs in three innings so far in this Test series. Judged by his returns, the workload has not withered him. He has 14 wickets so far, and became history’s first spinner to take five-wickets in an innings in five consecutive Tests. Not bad for someone whose fitness was in question before the series.
The verdict Stranger things have happened, but it is going to take something extraordinary for Pakistan to keep their undefeated record in Test series in the UAE in tact from this position. At least Shan Masood and Sami Aslam have made a positive start to the salvage effort.
Day 1, Dubai Test: At a glance
Moment of the day Sadeera Samarawickrama set pulses racing with his strokeplay on his introduction to Test cricket. It reached a feverish peak when he stepped down the wicket and launched Yasir Shah, who many regard as the world’s leading spinner, back over his head for six. No matter that he was out soon after: it felt as though the future had arrived.
Stat of the day - 5 The last time Sri Lanka played a Test in Dubai – they won here in 2013 – they had four players in their XI who were known as wicketkeepers. This time they have gone one better. Each of Dinesh Chandimal, Kaushal Silva, Samarawickrama, Kusal Mendis, and Niroshan Dickwella – the nominated gloveman here – can keep wicket.
The verdict Sri Lanka want to make history by becoming the first team to beat Pakistan in a full Test series in the UAE. They could not have made a better start, first by winning the toss, then by scoring freely on an easy-paced pitch. The fact Yasir Shah found some turn on Day 1, too, will have interested their own spin bowlers.
