A sneak peek at Gourmet Abu Dhabi 2015

The seventh edition of Gourmet Abu Dhabi, which runs February 11-21, continues to celebrate the city’s finest dining and fly in international chefs. This year the event falls under the umbrella of the new Abu Dhabi Food Festival alongside the Emirati Kitchen and Street Feast. Final details on pricing and dates are still to come, but here’s a sneak peek.

For steak lovers

Learn how to cook a perfect steak from BOA Steakhouse’s executive chef Marco Lucentini. The first branch outside of California opened in Abu Dhabi last year to stellar reviews. From February 16 to 18, 6pm to 7pm.

For kids who cook

If you’ve got little ones who love cooking, take them to a pizza-making class at Bocca, the Italian restaurant in the Hilton Abu Dhabi. On February 20, from noon to 3pm. Dh120 for kids ages 6 to 15. Or, take the kids to Fanr Restaurant at Manarat Al Saadiyat for two more options: one for pizza-making and another for pasta and crêpes.

For golfing gourmands

The Gourmet Golf Experience is one of the most popular of the Gourmet Abu Dhabi events, offering participants the chance to eat, drink and golf through 18 holes at six food and beverage stations, ending with a gourmet gala dinner. February 12, from 11am to 9pm; Dh850 per person.

For a taste of Sweden

From February 11 to 14, the Michelin-starred chefs Niclas Yngvesson and Gustav Knutsson will be serving up the Scandinavian fare they're famous for at Finz restaurant in the Beach Rotana. The chefs own the restaurant Bhoga in Gothenburg, Sweden, which was awarded a Michelin star in its first year. Their cuisine focuses on regional, seasonal and fair-trade food. For foie gras aficionados

What would Gourmet Abu Dhabi be without at least one foie gras-focused dinner? For those who can’t live without this French delicacy, don’t miss the five-course foie gras experience at 55&5th in the St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort. February 18; Dh850+ per person.

For Michelin-star Dutch fare

Join the Michelin-starred chef Wilco Berends of De Nederlanden in the Netherlands. He will be at Hilton Abu Dhabi’s Jazz Bar for a 16-dish dinner that includes Dutch milk-fed veal cheek with green curry and coconut; lobster and turbot bouillabaisse; and panna cotta with yuzu and mandarin.
