Oh, the money we would pay to spend a day in the company of Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele.
Blessed with a seemingly endless imagination, this is the man who has single-handedly put the fun back into fashion, with his wardrobe mash-ups and bonkers layering. His skill at piling dresses over skirts over trousers over crystal body suits proves that anything goes, and even high fashion is just another excuse to raid the dressing-up box and let loose.
And, just in case we hadn't all received the message that he has spent the last few seasons trying to get across, he has spelled it out in Gucci's new autumn/winter 2017 advertising campaign. Going back in time to the cheesy world of sci-fi TV of the 1950s and 1960s (including my personal favourite, Star Trek), Michele and director Glen Luchford have put aliens in gowns and spaceships in fields. Models run from naff monsters and cuddle gorillas, while others prepare to teleport to other planets, all dressed in a riot of pattern. Wonderful, crazy and totally without restrictions, Michele's fashion makes the world a less serious place.
So has he finally lost the plot? Probably. And we couldn't be happier about it.
