Venice Film Festival 2019 weekend style: 39 red carpet fashion moments

Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Stewart and Cate Blanchett were among the stars in Italy in amongst all the lights, cameras and action

It officially kicked off last Wednesday, and the Venice Film Festival was in full flow this weekend, as stars of the screen congregated in the Italian city to celebrate a number of new movies.

Premieres of films including Marriage Story, Ad Astra and Joker took place at the 76th annual event, with stars such as Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt, Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver in attendance.

Cate Blanchett and Kristen Stewart also donned their glittering best for the red carpet, as did models including Sara Sampaio, Barbara Palvin and Candice Swanepoel.

A screening of Saudi Arabian director Haifaa al-Mansour's latest drama, A Perfect Candidate, also took place, with Saudi actress Mila Al Zahrani and actor Khalid Abdulrahim both in attendance.

The Venice Film Festival will continue until Saturday, September 7.
