Jennifer Lopez chose a Dubai-based designer for the premiere of her movie Hustlers this weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The megastar, 50, showed off the work of Yasmine Yeya on the red carpet. The Egyptian designer is behind the label Maison Yeya, which has its head office in Dubai's Design District.

Maison Yeya has been seen on many Arabic celebrities in the past, including Dorra Zarrouk and Enjy Kiwan. The label was also worn by Chrissy Teigen earlier this year, and by Shanina Shaik at this year's Oscars, but the JLo red carpet moment has to be their most high profile endorsement to date.

The singer paired the gown with the definition of a statement bag: the 'stack of cash rich' crystal-covered clutch by Judith Leiber, which costs a remarkable Dh20,900 ($5,695).

The Maison Yeya founder was initially mentored by Lebanese design legend Elie Saab. She then went on to become one of the Middle East's most prominent bridal wear designers, and has more recently branched out into non-bridal designs.

This is the dress Lopez wore: it's from the designer's FW19 collection:

There's plenty of yellow in this collection by Maison Yeya – we'd love to see this dress on Zendaya or Gemma Chan:

While this structural gown would be a big fashion moment for someone like Mandy Moore or Margot Robbie:
