Italian brand Max Mara celebrated the opening of its new store in Dubai, with a capsule collection exclusive to the Middle East. The store itself is a study in Italian craftsmanship, crafted in glass, marble natural iron and stone-effect brass, including a chandelier formed by brass tubes, designed by Duccio Grassi Architects. The entrance floor and a part of the walls are made of Ceppo stone, a material used in the palaces of Milan.

Hijabi-model Halima Aden launched the Middle East collection — standout pieces in beautiful shades of brown — at The Dubai Mall flagship on October 22.

The collection (see gallery above) features the MaxMaragram, the pattern inspired by the original lettering of the Max Mara logo of the 1950s.

The capsule takes in a double-breasted coat in pure camel wool with silk MaxMaragram lining and gold buttons; a pencil skirt and a pair of satin trousers with a stretched MaxMaragram logo; and a silk-satin shirt.

Accessories include: a silk headscarf, T-bar pumps and a monogrammed rhinestone brooch.

“It’s a look that’s sharp, smart and savvy. Its camel and gold tones communicate discrete opulence and understated glamour, and the kind of power that doesn’t have to raise its voice to be heard,” says creative director Ian Griffiths.
