It was a dress that spawned hundreds of headlines, and now fashion fans can get an intimate look at the intricate work that went into creating Christina Mourad's wedding gown.
The bride – who goes by the nickname Kika – wed Elie Saab Jr on Friday, July 19, wearing a gown crafted by her new father-in-law.
Noted Lebanese designer Elie Saab was behind the custom number, which featured glimmering sequins, an illusion neckline and a romantic full skirt.
Almost a month after the big day, the Damour-born couturier has shared a clip and two photos that shows the behind-the-scenes work that went into creating the opulent gown.
"A focus on the intricate details of the custom Elie Saab Haute Couture wedding dress and the emotional fittings leading to the big day," the clip, posted on Instagram account of the designer's eponymous label, stated.
The short video shows a number of artisans and seamstresses working away at the gold-hued gown, which was inspired by the label's autumn / winter 2019-20 collection.
The clip also shows Mourad being fitted with a veil by Saab himself, while a shot of the dress on a mannequin in the designer's atelier shows the sheer scale and volume of the voluminous, flowing skirt.
The wedding was held in the church of Bkerki, which is northeast of Beirut, and was attended by more than 1,000 guests. A reception was hosted at the exclusive Faqra Club, and attended by some of the biggest names in Lebanon, with Assi El Hallani, Elissa and Michel Fadel all performing at the event.
