The third edition of the El Gouna Film Festival got underway in Egypt yesterday, Thursday, September 19, and a wealth of actors, stars and celebrities turned out to walk the red carpet at the lavish opening ceremony.

Taking place in El Gouna's Marine Theatre, the festival kicked off with a flurry of striking looks where feathers, ruffles and multi-layered gowns were trending.

All eyes were firmly on Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk who emerged from a black car to walk the red carpet in a head-turning cerise pink ball gown by Michael Cinco. The actress changed for the official after party, donning a Michael Kors one-sleeved sequinned black dress with an asymmetrical feathered hemline.

Egyptian actress Mona Zaki donned a striking dress topped with an oversized white feather, one of the biggest trends spotted at the festival. Amina Khalil also donned a feathered look, opting for a design by Emirari Hamda Al Fahim.

Elsewhere Amel Bouchacha twirled on the red carpet in a shimmering one-sleeve dress by Rami Kadi. The Algerian actress wore her hair in an effortless ponytail and paired the gown with silver drop earrings and a clutch bag.

Jordanian actress and presenter Mais Hamdan opted for a multi-textured dress complete with lashings of ruffles from Iman Saab.

And it wasn't all about the women.

Egyptian Canadian actor Mena Massoud who starred in Guy Ritchie's Aladdin looked sharp in his dark suit and Ahmed Dawood sported a black suit and bow-tie by Concrete as he sashayed on the red carpet with his wife Ola Rushdy.

The festival will run until Friday, September 27 and will screen around 80 films.
