Macy's may have pulled out from the upcoming Al Maryah Central Mall in Abu Dhabi, but fashion-forward women can look to Monki instead. The street-style Swedish brand will open its first-ever store in the UAE at Yas Mall in June, and on Al Maryah Island later this year. The two spaces will be in line with the imaginative Monki World universe, and follow the look-feel of the brand’s international stores, complete with shimmering furniture, and sunshine-drop lights and chandeliers. The brand describes its "cool girl" clothes as a cross between Scandi chic and Asian street style. Look through our gallery above to see if you can find a style that suits yours. Monki is also doing much in the realm of ethical fashion, and has launched two initiatives that address mental health and sustainability. The former, titled Monki Thinks, was created with support from Mental Health Europe. Its All the Feels campaign aims to raise awareness about the positive and negative effects of social media on our mental health. The campaign features three ambassadors who have gone through personal struggles, and want to help women realise that there is more to life than what’s portrayed online. Monki Cares, meanwhile, is the brand's efforts towards being less wasteful, by offering ethical materials (such as 100 per cent sustainably sourced cotton) and recycling fabrics. The website features a dedicated section on sustainability and shares tips on how consumers can adapt more eco-friendly measures. Now that's cool, girl.
