Saqr Park, a new skatepark in Ras Al Khaimah is opening this weekend, and it will be the largest recreational park in the emirate.

The park offers 620 square metres of space for the emirate's skating community to practice and train on, with a series of obstacles, including a bowl, pyramids, ledges, banks and round rails. It is expected to attract skateboarders, rollerbladers and BMX bike riders. The park has been built within a ghaf tree reserve, offering up plenty of natural shade.

The park will open with a family-friendly weekend of events, from Thursday to Saturday, February 27 to 29.

Where to find Saqr Park: 

At the opening, there will be an al fresco food festival in collaboration with Truckers Dubai, and a pop-up Ripe Market, offering goods from local artisans and retailers, as well as skating action to entertain visitors on the opening weekend.

On Thursday, February 27 the park will host its first session running from 4pm to 4.30pm, with a second at 5pm until 5.30pm.

Come Friday, February 28, there will be special performances from renowned international names in skateboarding, including 15-year-old Isabelly Avila, her father Garcia Rodriguez and 13-year-old Virginia Fortes Aguas. They will also lead workshops for visitors to pick up key techniques, skills and tricks, giving them a chance to skate together.
