British royal watchers have been given a second look at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's baby boy, Archie Harrison.

The couple released a photo of the month old tot to celebrate Prince Harry's first Father's Day as a dad.

"Happy Father’s Day! And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to The Duke of Sussex," the Sussex Royal Instagram wrote in a caption accompanying a sepia shot of the baby boy in his father's arms.

The photo only shows the top half of baby Archie's face, holding on to his dad's finger and peeking out from behind his hand. His fair hair can also just about be made out in the image.

The royal baby, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, was born on May 6, 2019. And two days after his birth his parents welcomed media into Windsor Castle for a photocall with the newborn.

When asked about her newborn at the time, the new mum said, "He has the sweetest temperament. He's really calm." To which Prince Harry laughed, "I wonder who he gets that from!"

Prince Harry had made no secret of his desire to become a father.

At the photocall he said: "It's great, parenting is amazing. It's only been two and a half days but we are just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy and to be able to spend some precious times with him as he slowly starts to grow up."

Since the photo, the couple have not been seen in public with their baby boy. They did, however, share a photo of his feet in the Duchess of Sussex's hands on International Mother's Day on May 12.

Photo hoax

The photo of Archie comes days after a hoax photo of a baby went viral, which was posted on a fake Sussex Royal Twitter account.

Fans, however, weren't fooled by the image.

"It’s a great picture and the most beautiful baby, but the Royals would never use that green wrap and the style of the shot is just all wrong," one royal watcher tweeted. Adding: "I am sure when we see a picture his loving parents will be holding him? Still what a cute baby."

The baby shown in the viral photo is actually a photo of German fitness influencer Bella Kraus's baby, Maddox Nino.

Kraus posted the styled photo on Instagram at the end of May.
