The route and road closures for the Sheikh Zayed Road run on Friday, November 8 have been confirmed, with thousands preparing to take part. Here's everything you need to know before you go.
The routes
The routes begin on Sheikh Zayed Road near the exhibition centre DWTC, rather than next to the Trade Centre roundabout.
5km runners will start near the World Trade Centre and travel down the main skyscraper-lined stretch. They will then make a u-turn of sorts, running toward Emirates Towers and then back down Happiness Street to finish back at World Trade Centre.
10km runners will set off from the same mark, but will also run along Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, looping around the Burj Khalifa before running through DIFC to the Trade Centre.
What you need to do before race day
Anyone who has registered needs to collect their bib before race day. You can do so either at Dubai World Trade Centre or at Sun and Sand Sports stores.
The bibs will be at Sun and Sand Sports stores from Wednesday, November 6, or at Concourse 2, Dubai World Trade Centre on Tuesday, November 5 (4pm to 10pm), Wednesday, November 6 (9am to 11.59pm) and Thursday, November 7 (9am to 10pm). You need to have a printed or mobile copy of your registration to collect a bib, and those running the 10km must bring a valid Emirates ID or passport when collecting the bibs to verify age. You can collect a bib for someone else if you have a copy of their ID and their Platinumlist ticket.
Anyone over the age of eight needs to have collected their bib in advance to be able to run.
Children below eight must be accompanied by parents: they will be given a wristband to wear, on which their parent's phone numbers should be written in case of emergency.
What time do the races start?
You need to have collected your bib in advance to be able to race. If you're late, you will also not be able to race.
The 10km race begins at 6.30am, and you will need to be in the assembly area by 6.15am. The 5km run begins at 6.45am – and you need to be in the assembly area (marked in the map above) by 6.30am.
The 5km is open to everyone, the 10km is for those over 18 only, and must be completed within 80 minutes. The 10km race is timed, and all participants will be given chips.
Roads will need to re-open at 9am, so any racers still on the road at that time will be transported by vehicle off the road for safety.
Where should you park? Or should you even drive?
It's highly advised that you arrive by taxi or Careem, the best place to get dropped off is at the Zabeel gate on 2nd Zabeel street. There will be parking options around Emirates Towers, Index Tower, DIFC and on the side of Sheikh Zayed Road closest to Jumeirah beach (opposite to Dubai World Trade Centre).
Parking spaces at Dubai World Trade Centre and One Central will open at 4am, doors to DWTC will open at 4.30am and parking facilities around the area will close at 6am (due to road closures).
You will have to park in these areas by 6am, and will have to vacate many of the parking spaces by 9am (which is presumably when most roads will reopen).
There will be bike racks available at the One Central building next to Trade Centre.
The Dubai Metro will open at 4.30am, but the Dubai World Trade Centre Metro will close for those getting off the train at 6.15 am. The Mall of the Emirates parking will be open from 4.30am for those who want to park there and then catch the metro.
A few other things you should know about
Water will be offered to runners free of charge, and there will be light snacks and other refreshments available for purchase.
There will be toilets dotted along the route. The event area is only open to participants, there will be no areas for spectators. Only bring what you can carry: there are no lockers or storage spaces.
There will be prizes worth more than Dh200,000 collectively to give away: the first three women and first three men to finish the 10km run will be given prizes.

What is a robo-adviser?
Robo-advisers use an online sign-up process to gauge an investor’s risk tolerance by feeding information such as their age, income, saving goals and investment history into an algorithm, which then assigns them an investment portfolio, ranging from more conservative to higher risk ones.
These portfolios are made up of exchange traded funds (ETFs) with exposure to indices such as US and global equities, fixed-income products like bonds, though exposure to real estate, commodity ETFs or gold is also possible.
Investing in ETFs allows robo-advisers to offer fees far lower than traditional investments, such as actively managed mutual funds bought through a bank or broker. Investors can buy ETFs directly via a brokerage, but with robo-advisers they benefit from investment portfolios matched to their risk tolerance as well as being user friendly.
Many robo-advisers charge what are called wrap fees, meaning there are no additional fees such as subscription or withdrawal fees, success fees or fees for rebalancing.

Should I be euphoric?
No. It's fine to be pleased about hearty returns on your investments. But it's not a good idea to tie your emotions closely to the ups and downs of the stock market. You'll get tired fast. This market moment comes on the heels of last year's nosedive. And it's not the first or last time the stock market will make a dramatic move.
So what happened?
It's more about what happened last year. Many of the concerns that triggered that plunge towards the end of last have largely been quelled. The US and China are slowly moving toward a trade agreement. The Federal Reserve has indicated it likely will not raise rates at all in 2019 after seven recent increases. And those changes, along with some strong earnings reports and broader healthy economic indicators, have fueled some optimism in stock markets.
"The panic in the fourth quarter was based mostly on fears," says Brent Schutte, chief investment strategist for Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company. "The fundamentals have mostly held up, while the fears have gone away and the fears were based mostly on emotion."
Should I buy? Should I sell?
Maybe. It depends on what your long-term investment plan is. The best advice is usually the same no matter the day — determine your financial goals, make a plan to reach them and stick to it.
"I would encourage (investors) not to overreact to highs, just as I would encourage them not to overreact to the lows of December," Mr Schutte says.
All the same, there are some situations in which you should consider taking action. If you think you can't live through another low like last year, the time to get out is now. If the balance of assets in your portfolio is out of whack thanks to the rise of the stock market, make adjustments. And if you need your money in the next five to 10 years, it shouldn't be in stocks anyhow. But for most people, it's also a good time to just leave things be.
Resist the urge to abandon the diversification of your portfolio, Mr Schutte cautions. It may be tempting to shed other investments that aren't performing as well, such as some international stocks, but diversification is designed to help steady your performance over time.
Will the rally last?
No one knows for sure. But David Bailin, chief investment officer at Citi Private Bank, expects the US market could move up 5 per cent to 7 per cent more over the next nine to 12 months, provided the Fed doesn't raise rates and earnings growth exceeds current expectations. We are in a late cycle market, a period when US equities have historically done very well, but volatility also rises, he says.
"This phase can last six months to several years, but it's important clients remain invested and not try to prematurely position for a contraction of the market," Mr Bailin says. "Doing so would risk missing out on important portfolio returns."

Although social media can be harmful to our mental health, paradoxically, one of the antidotes comes with the many social-media accounts devoted to normalising mental-health struggles. With Hope UAE is one of them.
The group, which has about 3,600 followers, was started three years ago by five Emirati women to address the stigma surrounding the subject. Via Instagram, the group recently began featuring personal accounts by Emiratis. Saaed, meanwhile, faces the daunting task of caring for four family members with psychological disorders. “I’ve had no support and no resources here to help me,” he says. “It has been, and still is, a one-man battle against the demons of fractured minds.”
