Members of the British royal family mingled with the public after attending their annual Christmas service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham on Wednesday, December 25.

Queen Elizabeth II arrived without her ailing husband Prince Philip, who had been released from the hospital a day before after a four-night stay for an unspecified illness.

Afterwards, Prince William and Duchess Kate, along with children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, also met with well-wishers who attended the event in hopes of seeing royalty.

Prince Andrew, who stepped back from royal duties last month after further scrutiny of his relationship to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, kept a low profile at the event. He was there, but he wasn't seen leaving the church with the rest of the royal family.

Noticeably absent was Prince Harry, his wife Meghan and baby Archie. The family have taken a break from royal duties and spent the holidays in Canada.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a new photograph for Christmas, showing the Duke kissing his youngest son, Louis, alongside Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The photo was tweeted from the Kensington Palace account with the message: "Merry Christmas to all our followers!"
