A survey by ServiceMarket on the household cleaning habits of UAE residents looked at how frequently people cleaned various items in their homes. More than half (67 per cent) of respondents had not cleaned their curtains in three months, while 46 per cent hadn’t cleaned their sofa upholstery or carpets. Sixty-five per cent had not cleaned their remote controls and 60 per cent hadn’t cleaned their door handles in more than three months. In addition, 91 per cent had not cleaned their house keys in three months and 69 per cent had not cleaned their wallets.

The survey also discovered that, unsurprisingly, half of all respondents use outside help to clean their homes. Other statistics include the fact that the average cleaning job lasts 3.2 hours; the most common requests are for dusting, floor cleaning and dishwashing, while interior window cleaning and ironing are also popular. Saturday is the most sought-after day for cleaning services, followed by Thursday. Tuesday is the quietest day.
