CNN experienced a widespread outage that briefly affected its ability to broadcast programming on Monday.
Shortly after noon Eastern time, the signal for many viewers throughout the US began to appear scrambled. In a social media post on several platforms, CNN commented on the situation.
"We are aware of a technical issue across Warner Bros Discovery that resulted in losing CNN channels for a period of time today," the statement read in part. "We are working quickly to resolve it and apologise for the interruption.
On air, the company also acknowledged the problem.
"There was a technical issue, we're very sorry and happy to be back," said CNN's anchor Dana Bash shortly after CNN's signal returned.
The network, founded by Ted Turner in Atlanta back in 1980 was among the first to boast of 24 hour news content.
Outages impacting the CNN, owned by Warner Bros / Discovery are incredibly rare.
At one point during the problem on Monday, CNN started to air a pre-recorded program before returning to live content.
CNN's chief media analyst Brian Stelter said that there would be "more to come on this", in reference to the social media post from the company's public relations account.
In an article on CNN, Mr Stelter pointed out the varying degree to which viewers may have experienced problems with the channel "depending on the distribution platform they use."
He also said that the outage briefly impacted HBO and other channels falling under the Warner Bros Discovery jursidiction.
