UK government launches link-up service connecting UAE and British companies

The UK government has launched a campaign to match up UAE companies with their British counterparts.

According to the British Embassy in Dubai, about 80,000 British companies were looking for opportunities overseas over the past two years, marking a 95 per cent jump year-on-year.

“In the past year, this UK government service has helped hundreds of companies in the UK and UAE to connect,” said Alastair Long, director of trade and investment at the British Embassy in Dubai.

The UK government established a free match-up service to connect UK companies from different sectors with companies in the UAE. It encourages UAE firms to register before April 1 to attend the International Festival of Business 2016 in Liverpool.

One of the UAE-based companies that has already tapped the service is International Performance Excellence.

Its founder Alaa Garad said that he was surprised when a small note from UK Trade & Investment produced a strong stream of inquiries from British firms.

“I have received over 70 expressions of interest,” he said.
