Could this be the most glamorous granny flat in the world?
Located in Dubai, a city boasting some of the biggest, tallest and most expensive properties in the world, this grand complex comprises two 15,000-square foot mansions as well as an extra-large swimming pool.
The property, which is spread over three villa plots in the east section of Emirates Hills, also includes a large garden, and the swimming pool takes up the sort of space usually used by a complete villa all on its own.
The current owners, a wealthy Indian family, built the complex as two separate but adjoining residences; the first palatial five-bedroom home houses the grandparents and the second seven-bedroom mansion houses the owners and their children.
But with a hefty price tag of more than Dh100 million, only extremely rich grannies and their families need apply.
The two homes share the gardens and swimming pool with no barriers between, allowing the family to mingle between the two houses.
But unlike most granny flats, this five-bedroom mansion is grander than the adjoining family house next door.
Designed to the family’s own personal specifications, it includes grand marble interiors, ornate chandeliers, detailed ironwork and sweeping staircases.
“The concept is the same as that of a granny flat but this is the grandest granny flat you’ll ever find,” says the selling agent Victoria Garrett, the associate director for UAE residential at Knight Frank. “In fact the home occupied by the grandparents is probably the grander of the two offered for sale.
“In my time in Dubai I’ve only ever come across double plots used for homes and never until now a triple plot,” Ms Garrett adds. “The owners built these houses to their own exacting standards so there really has been no expense spared.”
Bespoke solid-wood furniture, a feature in both homes, is being offered for sale as part of the deal.
