Children take centre stage at Yas Island this summer

Treasure hunt for 250 golden keys places all around the island begins, with winners receiving prizes valued at more than Dh10,000.

ABU DHABI // Children took centre stage at the press conference launching the Kids Rule on Yas series of summer events.

Fifteen children between the ages of 10 and 12 from Aldar Academies chaired the conference, which introduced a Yas Treasure Hunt that will run until September.

Two-hundred-and-fifty golden keys will be hidden around the island in participating outlets, including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, Yas Marina, Yas Marina Circuit, all hotels and the Yas Links golf course. Each person who finds a key will win a prize valued at more than Dh10,000, and will enter a draw to win return flights with Etihad, or Saudi budget airline flynas.

“Summer is a special time for kids and their families, and Yas Island has turned it on for them this summer,” said Karim El Guanaini, of Destination Yas Island.

“We have great family packages, activities and events to keep the whole family entertained. For instance, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld, along with hotels such as Yas Viceroy, Crowne Plaza, Radisson Blu, Rotana and Centro, have developed packages where kids stay, dine and go to theme parks for free.”

Other events include “Artist of the Arabs” Mohammed Abdo, who will play on July 18, Emirati singer Habib Elyasi on July 19, the hit children’s television show Sesame Street, to play from August 6 to 8, the science show Myth Busters from August 13 to 15, the world’s fastest illusionist, Hans Klok, on August 21 and 22, and comedian Bader Saleh, who will take to the stage on August 28.
