ABU DHABI // The number of visitors for Abu Dhabi Summer Season rose by 21 per cent this year compared to last year.
A total of 951,979 visitors checked into the emirate’s 169 hotels and hotel apartments this year during the Summer Season, from June 11 to September 5, the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA) said.
The season includes children’s shows, concerts and theatre performances, as well as promotions at malls.
The number of visitors from India showed the largest increase, rising 29.8 per cent to 68,618 visitors, compared with 52,852 in 2014, the TCA. The number of visitors from the Americas grew by 24.4 per cent to 45,125, and those from Europe grew 18.1 per cent to 125,098.
“This is an annual programme and one that reaps very positive rewards in our visitor numbers during the traditionally quieter summer period,” said Sultan Al Mutawa Al Dhaheri, acting executive director of tourism at the TCA.
“We are moving to become a year-round destination for the whole family and hope to bring even more partners on board next year for a bigger and better Abu Dhabi Summer Season to encourage a greater number of visitors to come and enjoy Abu Dhabi and its diverse range of scenery, culture and entertainment with us.”
