DUBAI // A new service to reduce the time taken to issue driver licences has been launched via the Ministry of Interior’s smartphone application.

Residents who have already passed their driving test can use the new service, which will provide them with an application file for the federal traffic and registration system. After completion, the licence will be delivered by mail.

Brig Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, director of the Traffic Coordination Directorate General, said the new app will save citizens and residents time.

“The service will be automatically available once the beneficiary enters the ‘traffic section’ and presses on the ‘driver licence’ button,” said project manager First Lt Mohammed Darwish Al Balouki. “The file should be registered in the federal traffic and registration system that is available across the UAE.”
