DUBAI // The first UAE designed and developed civil defence robot was unveiled during the semi-finals day of the Drones for Good Award.
Known as “Fire Bot”, the robot was a collaboration between Dubai Civil Defence and Digi Robotics.
Fire Bot is designed to be remotely connected to extinguishing systems in buildings and to move to the source of a blaze and begin tackling the fire before firefighters arrive.
The robot is expected to be the focus of public awareness safety campaigns.
Officials from the General Directorate of Civil Defence Dubai and Digi Robotics agreed to develop the robot for other uses.
Fire Bot will be evaluated after a three-month trial period. During that time, civil defence staff will also attend workshops and training courses on how to use the system.
The agreement is part of Dubai Civil Defence’s plans to adopt non-conventional systems and technologies to improve the safety of residents and property.
