Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Dh3,240

Benefits: Compared to its predecessor the Microsoft Surface 3, this model is thinner, lighter and offers a slightly bigger 12.3-inch PixelSense display. While it was first released for Dh4,200 late last year, according to shopping comparison website pricena.ae, the tablet is now available for only Dh3,240 from mikensmith.com.

Beware of: The Type Cover keyboard is still not included with the tablet and requires purchasing separately.

Apple iPad Air 2: Dh1,494

Benefits: The iPad Air 2 – a great-looking tablet with a stunning 6.1mm thickness and 9.7-inch IPS display – was first released with a price tag of Dh2,099 in October 2014. Now, according to pricena.ae, it is available for only Dh1,490 from mob­ileshop.ae. For handling apps smoothly, the tablet also packs 2GB of RAM.

Beware of: This is a pricey option when compared to other tablets. Plus the rotation lock, a feature on previous iPads, is not included.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2: Dh1,350

Benefits: One of the latest releases, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 features a lighter and thinner design with a 4:3 display. First released with a price tag of Dh1,619 last November, pricena.ae says the device is now available for Dh1,350 from itshop.ae. The smartphone has a microSD card slot and 32GB built-in storage.

Beware of: Those familiar with its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S, will notice there is no major upgrade except its change in size.
