It’s set to have a rainforest, a Tiger Woods-designed golf course and Trump-branded mansions, and now Damac Properties has announced a luxury retail strip for its Akoya Oxygen development in Dubai.

Called Vista Lux, the 1 million square foot entertainment and retail district will feature a waterway and more than 1.5km of walkways.

Residents and tourists will be able to visit a hydroponic cafe and restaurant where they can select their own produce, according to Damac.

The developer said the project will also become a focal point for cultural events, performances and art displays, including an open-air designer fashion market and an outdoor area called The Green, showcasing cultural performances, poetry readings and mini-theatre productions.

Vista Lux is also planned to include 2,000 hotel apartments and residences.

Damac said in a statement that work is underway at the development in Dubailand, with the initial roads and infrastructure close to completion. Aecom has been appointed as lead consultant for the design and infrastructure of the first 1,000 villas, while contracts have also been issued for further villa clusters to Ghantoot Gulf Contracting and Lootah Building & Construction.
