Harry Potter fans may have found the ultimate piece of movie memorabilia, with the wizard’s childhood home now up for sale at the Half-Blood Prince-ly sum of £475,000 (Dh2.2 million).
The fictional 4 Privet Drive is actually a three-bedroom house in Martins Heron, Bracknell – around 40 miles west of London. It was used as the Dursleys' home in the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
The house changed hands in 2004 for just under £240,000 and was again sold in 2010 for £290,000. But the price surge in the last six years is indicative of the wider market in the United Kingdom, which has been buoyed by government stimulus and lack of supply.
Despite the house having a famous past, it is not being priced at a premium. Property websites show that the estimate is average for the street it belongs to.
