Amid tumbling oil prices, Nigeria has tried to boost its ailing economy by building new projects. However, many have either been abandoned or postponed. At the Nigerian Maritime University, in Okerenkoko, Warri South-West Local Government Area in the Gbaramatu Kingdom, contractors have halted work. The completion of the university has become one of the key demands of the Niger Delta Avengers, a new militant group in the Niger Delta who are vowing to cripple the Nigerian economy by blowing up oil pipelines and bringing oil production to a halt unless such projects are finished.
