As the UAE prepares to celebrate a major milestone of 39 years of unification on Thursday, HSBC is marking the occasion with the launch of its own National Day campaign.
The bank's two-week promotion, which began last Thursday and ends on December 9, gives new and existing customers an opportunity to win a range of prizes.
To qualify, all customers have to do is open a current account with a salary transfer, or apply for a personal loan, car finance or a credit card. They will then go into a special draw to win one of 39 vouchers worth Dh10,000 each to spend at either the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai or Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi.
The number of winners - 39 - marks the number of years the UAE has been a federation.
"HSBC has a very unique relationship with the UAE, which dates back to 1959," says James Pearson, the bank's head of assets and liabilities.
"As the first and oldest bank in the country, HSBC is very proud of its long history with the UAE. National Day is a great opportunity for us to showcase commitment to our local customers and highlight our local heritage along with our international reach."
In addition to its National Day campaign, HSBC is offering 111,000 Air Miles - enough for a return flight to more than 64 destinations worldwide - to the first 500 eligible customers who open a Premier account. This offer begins tomorrow and ends on December 31.
Meanwhile, HSBC's National Day raffle draw will be held on December 30.
"As the promotion is only for two weeks and with 39 winners to be announced, customers have a higher chance of winning," Mr Pearson says.
