Emirates airline unveiled the design for its ultra-modern pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai, with a focus on the future of commercial aviation.

Emirates said its 3,300-square metre, three-storey structure will "reflect the dynamic lines of aircraft wings ready to take flight", with 26 slanted architectural fins holding more than 800 metres of LEDs displaying light shows every night of the Expo, which runs from October 20, 2020 until April 10, 2021.

"The latest fabrication technologies, building techniques and sustainable design elements will be used such as integrated solar arrays, sustainable off-site construction, responsive solar shading and a verdant landscape on both the inside and outside of the [airline's] Emirates Pavilion," the airline said.

The pavilion, to be located close to the UAE pavilion, will have capacity for 56,000 visitors per month.

“We are incredibly proud to unveil the first details of the Emirates Pavilion, which celebrates the themes of Expo 2020 Dubai," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates. "The aim for our pavilion is very much in line with that of Expo 2020 Dubai, to stimulate connections, create experiences and foster creativity and innovation, inspiring a commitment for a better future.

"The forward-thinking experiences will highlight the best that is yet to come in aviation, and will be a platform to showcase how important mobility is for the world today and in the future."

Ticket prices for Expo 2020 Dubai were also revealed on Sunday. A day's entry to the event, which starts next October, will cost Dh120. There will also be a three-day pass, which can be used for any three days during the six-month duration of the Expo, for Dh260.

Entry for people over the age of 65 years, children aged five years or under, and people of determination, will be free.

Expo 2020 organisers have confirmed that 192 countries will take part in next year's event.

The world fair will be hosted in the Middle East for the first time with 25 million visitors expected to flock to the emirate.

The Expo is a global celebration of innovation, inventions and human ingenuity which is held every five years. The last one was held in Milan in 2015 and the first Expo was held in London in 1851.
