When we posted the news yesterday, that The Bold and the Beautiful star Katherine Kelly Lang (along with co-star Don Diamont) would be participating in the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon on March 15, we were not prepared for the deluge of interaction and well wishes that poured in for the soap star. Lang stars as Brooke Logan on the show, which debuted in 1987. She is one of just four original cast members still remaining in the soap.
But then we realised that on hearing the news ourselves, everyone at our desk had a comment to make about the show. It struck us just how international this soap was. One of us from Botswana, an Indian and a Canadian who had all grown up with the theme tune straining in the background of households on different continents. And Emiratis have grown up watching it too.
Since the B&B, as it is fondly called by fans, is the most widely watched soap opera in the world it must make Lang - who tweeted that she would be in the capital earlier this week - one of the most recognised faces on the planet.
