Topher Grace (Interstellar) and John Magaro (Orange Is the New Black) have joined the cast of the Brad Pitt movie War Machine, which is due to film in Abu Dhabi in October.

Grace, who returns to the capital after attending the 2011 Abu Dhabi International Film Festival to promote his film The Double, will play a civilian military adviser to a four-star US general (played by Pitt). Magaro will play another adviser, who is also a special ops soldier.

The movie has been adapted by director and screenwriter David Michod (Animal Kingdom) from Michael Hastings' book The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America's War in Afghanistan. Pitt's own Plan B Productions is the main producer, while Netflix has bought the distribution rights in one of its highest-profile production deals yet. The movie is expected to spend about a month filming in the UAE. War Machine is due to be released next year but a date has yet to be announced.
