While UAE arguably had the biggest and best when it comes to Coldplay's New Year's Eve concert, other cities hosted a wide array of artists on the special night. New York City welcomed a large and eclectic array of artists from rock legends to cool indie groups. Chuck Berry rang in the New Year at BB King Blues Club while the punk queen Patti Smith performed at The Bowery Ballroom. Los Angeles revellers had the choice of dance beats by John Digweed and Junkie XL or hip-hop with Lupe Fiasco. Canadian dance fans were also treated to a special performance by Tiesto, who picked Vancouver as his spot to celebrate the New Year. The Dubai-bound British rockers Kasabian played at the massive London arena the O2 while the new-wave idol Gary Numan also performed at the smaller All Star Lanes. Elsewhere, a large bunch of indie bands escaped the chilly northern hemisphere to celebrate New Year's Eve down under. The Arctic Monkeys, The Fleet Foxes and CSS celebrated the night in sweltering conditions in the Australian eastern coast city of Lorne as part of The Falls Festival.
