Swish Dubai steakhouse Gaucho to host weekly cinema screenings

Swish Dubai steakhouse Gaucho really could just let the food do the talking.

But now the London-born, Argentine restaurant is reaching out to movie fans with a series of classic weekly cinema screenings.

Movie buffs will have the opportunity to soak up fan favourites and themed programmes – with a fresh season announced to kick off in August.

And if that wasn’t enough – there’s free popcorn.

Now shifted to the DIFC venue’s main downstairs level, the Classic Cinema Evening programme beings with a series of three screenings under the theme of Unrequited Love.

First up is notable tear-jerker The Notebook on August 17, before Baz Luhrmann's epic reimagination of The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, on August 24. The month wraps with a chance to catch all-time classic Breakfast at Tiffany's, starring Audrey Hepburn in the iconic role, on on August 31.

There's a historical arc to September's screenings, with Gladiator on September 14, Last of the Mohicans on September 21 and Braveheart on September 28.

October's screenings fall under the theme Unexpected Twists, with The Usual Suspects, Shutter Island, The Sixth Sense and The Others screened weekly from October 5.

Looking further ahead, November will be devoted to a series of classic period dramas. Catch The Other Boleyn Girl, Vanity Fair, The Duchess, Pride and Prejudice and Robin Hood, weekly from November 2.

For December things get suitably festive, with family favourites Miracle of 34th Street, Elf, The Grinch and The Holiday weekly from December 7.

All screenings take place on Mondays at 8pm at Gaucho, DIFC, and are free to enter. Popcorn is served for free and guests can order from a special la carte menu throughout the evening.
